Our Arts and Crafts class is a small end-to-end business model where differently abled individuals not only learn skills but are involved in the running of small business such as management and sales. The goal is to gain skills to enable the individual to start their own business or collaborate with an existing one. Buddies help support our differently abled learners in class. Past projects have included knitting, scarf-making, sewing, jewelry-making, diya-painting, fabric painting, and canvas painting. This class has received overwhelming responses as a positive and fun experience from both the differently-abled participants, their families, and the peer volunteer assistants.
Here's what people have to say about the Arts & Crafts program:
From the parents...
"My son loves attending painting sessions at Inclusive World. He really enjoys the painting with his peers and he does not want to miss any session :). It is really helping my son to boost his confident level personally and socially. We would love to have the events continue and are eager for the sessions after the summer holidays :). Thanks, Venkat"
"As a parent, I love that the Arts and Crafts program presents many opportunities that have enabled my daughter to express herself and boost her self-esteem." - Gowri
"Anu has enjoyed painting diyas at the Inclusive World program and has shown progressive improvement in her concentration skills during the painting sessions. She is able to complete 3 to 4 diyas in one session with help from the parent and teen volunteers who interact very well with her. We look forward to bringing Anu to the program when it resumes in the fall." - Sita and Murugan
Arts and Crafts participant Pallavi says...
"Diya painting helped me be productive and enabled me to express my creativity choosing colors of my choice and mixing patterns. I value the bonds with my peers which extends beyond our sessions."
